Welcome to the memorial page for

Edgar Therrien

September 18, 1927 ~ June 29, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Edgar Therrien, 89, of Standish, formally of Bangor, died June 29, 2017, at Mercy Hospital, following a short illness. He was born September, 18, 1927, in Lowell MA to William & Blanche Therrien.

The depression deeply influenced him. His family was ripped apart. He was raised by his cousin Leopold CheneII, whom he considered his father. At the ripe old age of 16, a family friend lied about Ed's age, so he could join the Navy.

After the Navy, he joined the Army, then the Army Air Corp, which became the United States Air Force.
These multiple experiences gave him a unique perspective on the World, as well as skills which he used throughout his life.

When Ed retired from the USAF, in 1965 as a Master Sargent, he began his independent contracting
business, specializing in remodeling & restoration of historic homes. Well known by many for his
honesty, knowledge and skills. He excelled in everything he did! Ed qualified for pilot's training, but declined as he did not want to be an officer.

He was most proud of being a past President of the Hampden Maine Kiwanis and having contributed his knowledge, to the establishment of Leonard's Mills (Forest and Logging Museum) in Milford Maine, at its inception.

Ed is survived by his life partner and love of his life, Linda Tukey of Standish; a sister, Sister Theresa Therrien & three brothers; Henri & wife Judy, Joseph and wife Mimi, and Raymond and wife Rosalie. Multiple hearts of other family, friends and customers now have an empty spot.

At Ed’s request, there will be no services. He asked everyone to give a donation to a food bank, either in money, food, or time to serve, so fewer people will go to bed hungry tonight! To share memories and condolences with the family, please go to www.athutchins.com.
