Conrad E Demers

SCARBOROUGH, Conrad Eugene Demers, 80, of Scarborough, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at home with his family at his side, after a year-long courageous battle with leukemia. 

He was born September 3, 1936 in Berlin, NH, son of the late Louis and Alma (Laverriere) Demers.  Conrad grew up in Biddeford, ME.  He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957.  He was married for 53 years to the love of his life, Constance (Connie) Irene Demers.  Together they settled in Portland, ME, raising three wonderful children.  He worked for the New England Telephone Company for over 35 years.

Conrad was a strong, hardworking, and caring man who would do anything for his family and friends.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He had tremendous love and pride for his family.  He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. 

He is survived by his wife, Connie (Ronan) Demers of Scarborough, ME; son Stephen Demers and his wife, Cynthia, and their two children, Alexander and Abigail of Wenham, MA; daughter, Sharon Lynde, and her husband, Jerry of Scarborough, ME; and son Scott Demers and his wife, Christine Canning of Georgetown, MA.

Conrad was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Alma and sisters, Yolande Corbeil, Paulette Beaudoin, and Jeannine Martel.

The family would like to give special thanks for the wonderful care he received at the Mercy Hospital Oncology Clinic and the VNA Home Health Hospice of South Portland.
