Virginia Vaillancourt Obituary

Portland - Virginia A. Vaillancourt, 97, of Portland, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 22,2022

In her home surrounded by her family. 

She was born in Portland on April 16,1924 a daughter of Clarence A. and Ida F. (Cunningham) Ratliff.

Virginia grew up in Portland and graduated from Portland High School.

 She married William H. Vaillancourt of Portland on July 31, 1953, and stayed in Portland all of their lives.

Virginia was a stay-at-home wife and mother as well as secretary for her husband’s business Bill’s TV and Appliance Service.

She was a life time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Portland.

Virginia loved doing her crafts. She also loved knitting, crocheting, plastic canvas, long stitch needle work and her beaded dolls. She made sure each of her grandchildren had their own Afghan made by her. When she completed a project, she would gift it to family members and friends. She loved to make people happy.

Virginia was predeceased by her loving husband William H. Vaillancourt in 1985, her parents Ida F. in 1987 and Clarence A. Ratliff in 1986. Also, her brother Donald Ratliff of Zephyrhills, Florida in 2020. Her two Sons- in- law Roger J. Gendron of Portland in 2019 and Dean A. Rogers of Westbrook in 2020.

She is survived by her daughters Sharon M. Rogers of Westbrook and Donna I. Gendron of Portland and her sister Mrs. Irene Souza of Portland; grandchildren, Mark A. Rogers, William R. Gendron and wife Kimberly, granddaughter Michelle L. DiPietrantonio and husband Anthony; Greatgrandchildren Katelyn, Ryan, Meghan and Tyler Gendron; William and Bryce DiPietrantonio all of Gorham.  She was known as GRAMMIE “V” by all.

Internment will be in Brooklawn Memorial Park in the spring.
