Victor Jarochym Obituary

Victor "Vic" Jarochym, 74, of Scarborough ME, passed away peacefully on Friday October 2, 2020 at the Maine Veterans' Home. He was born on May 15, 1946 in Regensburg, Germany to Peter and Elizabeth (Pawlenka) Jarochym.

Victor and his parents emigrated to the United States in September 1950 aboard the USS General R.M. Blatchford arriving at Ellis Island, NY.  He lived briefly in Ithaca NY, Newark NJ and Boston MA before settling in Richmond ME.

He graduated from Richmond High School, Class of 1964.  Following high school, he served in the United States Navy from 1967-1969 aboard the USS Gainard as a Fire Controlman and Mechanic.  He then attended the University of Maine Orono, and graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in Business Administration in the Class of 1972.

He worked in various jobs, many in Sales, working at Day's Jewelers in Augusta, Etonic Shoes, as a Credit Manager for Bass Shoes, an ERA Real Estate Agent, Sales Manager for Eastern Seaboard Packaging, Brock's Lumber, and Bowl-A-Rama in Sanford, for the perks.

He was active in community and public service through Rotary Club International for many years.  Vic was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He loved spending time with his family very much, sharing memories and keeping up with everyone's activities.  They had many great memories of camping at Sebago Lake, his kid's various high school sports, helping make the fastest pinewood derby cars for cub scouts, talking about each other's travels and funny stories.  He was a character and loved giving everyone a special nickname.  He enjoyed candlepin bowling, camping, fixing cars, and relaxing after a long day in his recliner for a nap and watching classic black and white movies.

He is predeceased by his father, Peter in 1976 and mother, Elizabeth in 1996.

He is survived by his children, son Christopher Jarochym and his wife Linda and grandchildren Leah, Paige, Adam and Zachary of York ME; his daughter Heather Reycraft and her husband Russ of Almont CO; his son Ryan Jarochym and his fiancé Shannon and granddaughter Isla of Portland ME; the mother of his children Sheila Jarochym of Wells ME, his brother Paul Jarochym of Richmond ME, and nephew Alex Jarochym of Auburn ME.

We would like to thank the Maine Veteran's Home nursing staff, administrators and residents for the amazing care and love Victor received while with them.
