Scarborough, ME - Thelma Joan Reilly, 89, a longtime resident of South Portland and Cape Elizabeth, Maine, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after battling dementia and surviving COVID.
She was born February 19, 1931 in West Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of the late George and Cylvina (Glynn) Davidson.
In high school, Thelma was prom queen and received the Daughters of the American Revolution Award. After graduation she worked at the town hall and then decided to be a stay at home mother. Later after moving to Maine, she volunteered at Mercy Hospital, Garden Club of South Portland, and South Portland Nursing home. Her favorite days were walking with Fred along Maine beaches with her dog Jake. She loved going to various school or sporting events of her grandchildren. Many times she expressed how proud she was of the accomplishments of all her children and grandchildren. Most important was the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Frederick Joseph. They were married for 62 years.
Thelma was predeceased by her husband Fred, her older brothers and sister, of Connecticut and Virginia, and an infant son, Keith Joseph. She is also survived by her three daughters and their families, Kathleen Trahan and her husband Daniel, Holly Culver and her husband Stephen, and Cindy Reilly; eight grandchildren, Sarah Trahan, Hannah Trahan-Hood and her husband Brandon, Megan Skinner and her husband Josh, Emily Dobson and her husband Jeffrey, Samantha Culver and her partner Patrick O’Reilly, Cameron Locke and his wife Fiona, Ryan Locke, and Zach Culver; and five great grandchildren, Jack Skinner, Benson Hood, Winter Hood, Rowaen O’Reilly, and Reilly Skinner.
