Robert L Bancroft

Robert L. Bancroft also known as “808” passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age 77.  He was a friend to many on his travels and had many stories about his life and past experiences. 

Bob worked for many years at J. J. Nisson where he retired.  He was caring and helpful to his mother-in-law who he visited on a daily basis at the nursing home and brought her lobster rolls every Friday.  He also was helpful to his sister and brother-in-law by mowing lawns, clearing snow and dropping off newspapers. He also had many friends at Portland Eagles, Howie’s Pub, Forest Garden and Ananias on Washington Ave.

He was born in Portland on August 8, 1944 to Almira F. Bancroft Lamirande and Everett A. Bancroft.  He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Edward Bancroft, his wife Donna Darling Bancroft, Arthur Bancroft and James Bancroft and his sisters Jeannette Bancroft and Evelyn Walsh.

He is survived by his daughter Annemarie Preston and her husband John and his Son Robert C. Bancroft.  Also, his brothers William Bancroft and wife Susan and Donald Bancroft and his wife Janice.  His sisters Florence Pooler, Linda Doughty, Mary David and her husband Harland David, Elizabeth Graffam and husband Mark Graffam and Susan Hendel and husband Gene.  Also, by his brother-in-law John Darling and sister-in-law Dianne Duarte who he is grateful for all their love and help.  He is also extremely grateful for Marion Leach who was a loving caretaker for the past two years and his nephews Patrick and Michael Darling.

A graveside service will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Cemetery on Friday November 19th at 1:00 PM.
