Portland – Patricia (Tootie) Mikulaninecz, 77 passed away peacefully on Sunday November 5th at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Patricia was born in Gorham Maine, the daughter of Willard and Althea Townsend. The family relocated to the beautiful seacoast town of Perry, ME where she was raised and attended local schools. She is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, Oren Sr., a brother Norman, and sisters Barbara Gurney and Priscilla Ashby. She is survived by her brother Jerry Townsend of Pembroke and his partner Vickie, sister Linda Cole and husband Donny of Windham, sister Althea Collins and husband Mike of East Millinocket, and sister Diane Libby and her husband Don of Dayton. She is also survived by her three children… Kathy Johnson and her husband Ernie, Oren Jr and wife Nancy, and Pamela Burchill and husband Timothy, all of Portland.
Patricia married the love of her life, Oren Mikulaninecz Sr, and they raised a loving family in Portland. She was a devoted wife and mother and proud of her three kids and their families. She adored her 6 grandchildren… EJ, Darcy, Trista, Kayla, Erika, and Britni. She enjoyed baby-sitting them and cheering them on at their sporting events and many extra-curricular activities. She was like a second mother to all of them… always supportive with a kind smile, gentle hug, and an encouraging word. She was equally fond and proud of her 5 great grandchildren… Bradley, Isabella, Bentley, Peyton, and Aislin.
She was affectionately known as ‘Hun’ to her husband of more than 60 years, ‘Ma’ to her three kids, ‘Nana’ to the grand-kids, and ‘Tootie’ to everyone else. She wore many hats, but really enjoyed her role as Nana in her golden years. She loved crafting and attending holiday fairs, decorating her home, gardening, and baking. She loved her cat” Church” who was her loyal companion and could usually be found curled up on her lap. But her favorite pastime of all was spending time with her family and close friends. She loved the holidays and birthday parties and created so many fond memories with her homemade zucchini and banana bread, whoopie pies, peanut butter fudge and no-bake cookies that were always in high demand. She also loved her regular outings to the Clam Bake at Pine Point which became a yearly tradition as soon as they opened each summer.
Her kindness and generosity extended well beyond her family. She was generous with her time and talents in her community… volunteering at the Sagamore Village Community Center… in the gardening program, the lunch program for youth, and distributing food to the needy. She was a great role model to all, and the world is a better place because of her.
She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all for her kind, gentle, spirit, , willingness to lend an ear or a helpful hand, her beautiful smile, rosy cheeks, and the twinkle in her bright blue eyes. The room was always brighter when she entered, and she leaves us with so much to be grateful for, and to carry on in her memory.
Visitation Services will be Friday November 10th at A.T. Hutchins at 660 Brighton Ave, Portland, ME. A funeral Service will be Saturday November 11th at 12 noon also at A.T. Hutchins, and then proceeding to Blanchard cemetery in Falmouth for burial. All are invited to the home of Oren and Nancy for lunch at 3 Demerest St. in Portland following the burial.
