Patricia Aceto Obituary

Portland-Patricia A. Aceto, 86 of 54 Hillis St. died on February 26th at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on Munjoy Hill in Portland on 11/21/1937 and was the daughter of Hilda and Harold Clancy.  She attended Portland schools and graduated from the Gorham Teachers College in Gorham, Maine with a B.A. in Elementary Education.  She taught for many years in the public school system as well as worked caringly with children with learning challenges. She was a strong spirit who enjoyed life to its fullest, overcoming cancer twice.

“Patty” was a lover of all people and an amazing storyteller.  One could sit for hours with her as she told stories about everyone she knew in the city of Portland.  She was kind and loved to bake and cook for all her family and friends. She was an avid reader, loved all holidays, marching band music, watching her grandchildren on the sports field, and the beach, especially Peaks Island.

Mrs. Aceto also worked for years to support her family business, “Aceto’s Finest Italians”.  She was a communicant of Cathedral Church of the Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph’s Church. She loved her five children and 12 grandchildren fiercely and was known for her strong grip when walking around with the grandchildren to keep them from harm.

She is predeceased by her husband, Rocco T. Aceto.  She leaves behind her two siblings Dorothy Jones and Harold Clancy Jr. She also leaves behind her five children:

Annmarie Quezada and her husband Steven, Theresa Aceto-Black and her husband Angelo Black, Rocco T. Aceto Jr.  and his wife Mia, Christopher C. Aceto and his wife Adilah, Muhammad, and Francine Aceto.  She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren: John and his wife Natasha, Marial and her husband Carlos, Sam and his fiancé Kiera, Simone, Adrien, Dominic, Giovanni, Gianna, Jabreel, Farid, Khalil, and Saleem.

The visiting hours will be on Friday, March 1 from 4-7pm at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave. Portland, Maine 04102.
