Mark DeWever Obituary

Mark DeWever, 68, of Windham, ME, passed away on January 31.

Mark was born on June 6, 1954, to John William and Mary Burr (August) DeWever in Portland. After graduating from Deering High School in 1972. He worked various jobs before securing a job with the City of South Portland.

In 1973, he married Karen Smith (Krenke) of South Portland and had two children, Heather (Zielinski) and Zachary.

In 1982, he divorced and met Rebecca Randall of Falmouth. They married in 1983 and had two children, Thomas and Daniel. They divorced in 2019.

He is survived by his companion of 3 years, Joanne Brumell, his loving children; Heather and husband, Jason Zielinski of Covington Township, PA, Zachary and wife, Jesica of Allentown, PA, Thomas, of Portland, ME, and Daniel and wife, Ashley, of Richmond, ME. His grandchildren Ezekiel DeWever, Emmet DeWever, Karley Nault, Joshua Zielinski, Juliette DeWever, Jakob and Jefferson Petersen.

Mark worked for Fresenius Medical Care from 2000 until he retired in 2017. After retiring, he worked part-time as a driver for Atlantic Limosuine.

Mark was very active in the community as a volunteer firefighter for the town of Casco. He was also involved with his children as a pack leader for Cub Scouts, as well as a coach for little league and soccer. He was a member of the Chain Gang for Deering High School Football.

Mark had two kidney transplants (2000 and 2013) after battling Polycystic Kindey Disease for many years. He participated in the World Transplant Games in France, Canada, the United States, Thailand, Finland, and Austrailia.

Visitation will be held at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 7, from 1-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either Transplant Games online at http://www.transplantgamesofamerica.org/give or Maine Transplant Program Patient Assistance Fund, 43 Baxter Blvd, Portland, ME 04102.
