Keith Burner Obituary

Keith R. Burner

1958-2019

Keith Richard Burner, 61, of Cumberland, Maine passed away on October 26, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer.  It should be noted that he managed to keep his wonderful sense of humor and a positive outlook, right up until the end.

He was born in Portland, Maine to Joan and Richard A. Burner on February 10, 1958.  He was a graduate of Falmouth High School, class of “78”.  During high school he attended vocational trade school for plumbing and heating. Keith owned and operated “Ship Shape”, in South Portland, where he performed auto and marine restorations.  Then in later years, he spent time working at many different marinas as an independent contractor, continuing restoration work, as well as selling boats and yachts.

Keith enjoyed life to the fullest!  He grew up on the Falmouth Foreside, in addition to several military bases, based on his father’s deployments, both oversees and stateside. Keith had many dogs over the years and was a big fan of animals in general, and they tended to always gravitate towards him.  He was a talented artist and enjoyed painting with watercolors.  Keith enjoyed spending time on the water, in the woods, and on the ski slope, puttering in his garage or shop, restoring motorcycles and riding dirt bikes, collectable automobiles and spending time with his many friends. Keith loved to share stories about his many adventures and recounting fond memories.  BUT, most of all, he loved being a father to his son, Cody Richard Burner.

Keith was predeceased by his father, Richard Albert Burner, and his sister Pamela Lynn Burner.  He is survived by his mother, Joan Burner, of Falmouth, Maine, his brothers Scott, of Windham, Maine and Chris, of Falmouth, Maine, his uncle Jack & wife Pam Bates Burner, of Ocala, Florida, aunt Connie & husband Herb Jones, of Yorktown, Virginia and all of their families.  He is also survived by his son Cody Richard Burner and Cody’s mother, Bernadette Skilling of Gray, Maine, plus all of his lifelong friends, including his best friend David Lebel of Cumberland, Maine.

Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland, Maine.  A private burial will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Falmouth, Maine.
