Katharine Kennie Obituary

Portland - Katharine Lloyd-Rees Kennie, 57, of Portland, passed away peacefully on July 12,2018 at

daughter of David Llewelyn Lloyd-Rees and Jean Dupee Lloyd-Rees.

Katharine attended high school in Richmond Virginia, graduating from Saint Catherine's. From there, she
attended the University of Maine in Orono, graduating in 1984 with a B.A. in Broadcasting. While at Orono, Katharine hosted a radio show through the University of Maine where she DJ'd and also worked for Fox Channel 7 Bangor News where she was a reporter.

Division Manager for Locke Office Products, and a Senior CSR for Time Warner Cable, where she worked
for 21 years. She was also a substitute teacher for the Portland Public Schools. Katharine also made
many television and radio commercials which were broadcasted locally and nation-wide.

Katharine had many passions in life and one was to make people laugh and she would do that constantly by delivering one-liners. One of her favorite things to do was going to the grocery store, meeting friends there and telling them humorous stories. Another was her passion for music. Her favorite artists included Elton John, Dan Fogelberg, Electric Light Orchestra, among other upbeat artists, which she blasted as she drove from place to place.

Katharine loved animals, especially her beloved cats, Toaster and Bessy. She also loved to read and was an avid reader who could finish a large novel in a weekend. Katharine was a talented writer. She wrote many short stories, poems. Showcasing her talent, she produced a story about her husband's and her favorite cat, Pepper, where Reginald, her husband, illustrated and she came up with the plot line.

Katharine’s favorite places to visit were lighthouses. She had lighthouses all throughout the house and her family believes it was her favorite part about living in Maine.

Katharine was predeceased by her father David, who passed away in 2013. She leaves behind her loving
husband, Reginald Kennie and her daughter Alexandra Kennie. Katharine is also survived by her mother Jean, a sister Vicky and her husband Steve Smith, and her brother David Lloyd-Rees and his wife Susan, along with many nieces and nephews.
