Falmouth – John L. Berrill, 80, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, following a brief illness surrounded by friends and family. He was born on July 16, 1942, in Everett, MA, to John L. Berrill Sr. and Edith Lowe Berrill.

John graduated from Alton High School in Alton, NH. After graduation, he worked various jobs until he embarked on his 30-year career at General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC).

In addition to his proud professional history at GMAC, John dedicated his life in service to a remarkable list of organizations. John was honored to be a member of Lions International for 54 years where he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship by District 41 and served as President of the Deering Lions Club and Zone Chairman. Most notably, John served as the Chairman of the Board for The Children's Dyslexia Center of Portland, which provides one-on-one instruction with a special reading approach for dyslexic children in grades 1-12.

When John wasn’t volunteering his time at his various membership organizations, he loved camping in his RV with his friends and family, fishing on Long Pond at Castle Island, and enjoying a meal at Parker’s Restaurant or Becky’s Diner in Portland.

John was preceded in death by his parents John L. Berrill Sr. and Edith Lowe Berrill, and his sister Janet Lawrence. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Berrill, children Douglas and wife Julie Berrill of Rochester, NH; David and wife Katrina Berrill of Gorham, ME; Robert and wife Kimberly Berrill of Farmington, NH; Frank and wife Torri Soule of Falmouth, ME; Mark Soule of Falmouth, ME; and Kelley Rich of Falmouth, ME.
