I’m brought here with a heavy heart and tremendous sadness for the loss of Jen, but also with hopes to speak to the wonderful gift that she was to all of us.

Jen came into a lot of our lives through recovery. I was lucky to watch her walk through the doors and to enter a new way of life for herself. At first, she was like a deer in headlights—looking around with a slightly questionable disposition like, where am I, who are these people, can I trust them, and why is everyone being so nice and helpful? It didn’t take long for Jen to settle in, though; to find her people and a program that started to change her life. The path of recovery was twisty and turny, as it is for most as we heal. Jen stepped into it with courage and bit by bit her world opened up and expanded. It was a real gift to be witness to the joy and the light that was given to Jen as a result of her sobriety, and the connections she made with the people around her. Jen’s experience was one she was passionate about, she really believed in it and so deeply wanted to help others find their way, too. Jen was incredibly dedicated to the people around her, she had an immensely caring heart, and she went the extra mile for the people in her life. Jen was a leader in our community and there’s been so many women who’ve expressed their heartfelt experiences with how Jen has helped them. Jen was rooting for everyone one of us all the time – in fact, I still feel that. I want to remember this part of Jen whose heart wants the best for all of us. I will remember and honor the light of her and the great service that her soul has been and will continue to be to all of us.

Jen was one of the best kinds of humans. She had a heart of gold and was truly so loving and kind. She also LOVED her dad and protected him at all costs. Every time we saw each other we would hug for soooo long, she had the best hugs, and she would look me in the eyes with her big blues she got from her dad and say “I just love you” in her NY accent. She was also giving and really just an overall incredible human. She helped me move TWICE, and I mean not just bring boxes up and down stairs, but unpack and organize. That’s the kind of person she was- she loved hard. It is so very tragic to know she is not with us anymore. I give my deepest condolences to her family, especially her dad. You meant the world to her, you were her hero and she loved you more than anything. Much love and healing
