Jeannette Sutherland Obituary

Jeannette L. (Staples) Sutherland, 75, of Cumberland Avenue, passed away on Monday January 17,2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Lewiston, Maine on April 15,1946 a daughter of Blaine B. and Jennie S. (Dobson) Staples.

Jeannette loved children and all animals. She loved being a grandmother, not a stay-at-home Grammie making cookies, but always taking her grandchildren to fairs, parks, lakes, movies, Storyland always every summer. In the fall and winter days she had them out and active. Jeannette would go out and rescue animals keeping some and finding good homes for others. She enjoyed helping people, especially kids and the elderly. Jeannette was employed as a CNA for many years in nursing homes, then later went to private duty. She also was able to fulfill her dream of cosmetology, passing her classes with A’s & A+’s.

Jeannette was predeceased by her husband Bernard C. Sutherland in 2009, her sister Mary Jean in 1951, her father Blaine Staples in 1976. Brother Tommie B.  Staples in 2006 & her mother Jennie S. Staples in 2014.

Surviving is 3 daughters Gina Marie, Heidi Sue, & Jennifer Blayne; 3 sons Floyd Joseph (Joey), Greg Scott and youngest son Beau. Her grandchildren Krissy, Taija, and Grandson Leslie (Her Buddy); a brother John Alex Staples 1 year younger than her, a sister Lesley B. (Staples) Bickford 7 years younger, 3 great Grandchildren Dylan, Leo & Stella; a niece Jennie Susan, a great niece Reign, great nephew James who were twins, she called them her dumplings.

Jeannette had a great and wonderful support system where she lived, her Great Friends always checking in on her making sure she had all she needed. Her brother Johnny, daughters Heidi & Krissy; friends Mitch, Don, & Dave Scott All were fantastic and wonderful friends considered family, and she was beyond very grateful for them all.

Jeannette also wants to thank hospice who went above and beyond to help her pass away at home the way she wanted to. BLESS YOU ALL!!

She also leaves behind her beloved cats who are left in great hands, all rescued and shared with her friend DON. Rescued BLUE (Russian Blue 12 years,) Rescued yellow cat (Golden Tabby 5 years) Rescued Midnight (All black Maine Coon 2 years).

Services will be private. Jeannette’s wish if so desired contributions in her memory may be made to a local animal shelter or Hospice.
