Jane A. (Howe) Haskell, 79, of Portland, passed peacefully on September 19, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born in Portland on May 5, 1939, the daughter of the late Elwood and Elizabeth Howe.
Jane graduated from Deering High School and went on to get a business degree at Grey’s Business School. Jane went on to have a lifetime career as an Equestrian Instructor and Horse Trainer at her farm “Oak Knoll” in Scarborough. After retiring, she taught horseback riding at Camp Ketcha in Scarborough for many years.
Besides Jane’s passion for horses, she loved to be at her camp at Higgins Beach. She would spend many days of the summer sitting on her front lawn or porch of “Sunny Sides”. She will always be remembered for her wit and sense of humor.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Liz Cavallaro and her husband Dan; grandchildren, Christin Scott and John Scott and his wife Darleen; great-grandchildren, Stella Scott and Kieran Scott.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Eastern Cemetery on Main St. in Gorham followed by a celebration of her life.
