Gerard Francis Moore

Gerard Francis Moore, age 82, of Portland, Maine died at home on December 22, 2021 after a period of declining health. Gerard was born in Milford, MA on August 16, 1939 to W. Emil Moore and Rose (DiDonato) Moore.

Gerard graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Milford in 1956 then proudly served in the U.S. Navy. In his later years, he continued to serve as an auxiliary member of the U.S. Coast Guard in Portland, Maine. Gerard received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University and spent the majority of his career working for IBM. He took a seven-year break from corporate life and moved his family to Gilford, NH where, alongside his former wife, Marilyn (Consoletti) Moore, he opened and operated The Toy House, the Soda Shoppe, and the Office Pub.

Gerard and Marilyn quickly became enmeshed in the local business community and also partnered with others to co-own a men’s clothing store and a sandwich shop. Gerard decided to return to IBM, which brought him to the city he loved, Portland.  Gerard was active in many organizations throughout his time in Portland, including the Elks, the Eagles, and the Italian Heritage Center. He loved to garden and was an avid reader.

Gerard is survived by his children Donna (Moore) Olsen, Judith Moore, and Robert Moore; grandsons Joseph Olsen, Peter, Olsen, Thomas Olsen, and Benjamin Moore; brother Paul; and sister-in-law Sherri, and his nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Rose, his brother Richard, and sister-in-law Terry.
