Scarborough - On June 5, 2023, Frank went to join his beloved wife, Della and their youngest grandson, John D Neuts, in heaven. He passed peacefully while in the loving arms of family as he made his way over to be with Della, John and other loved ones.
Frank was born in Portland on July 24, 1935 to Gustave and Helen Neuts and attended Portland and South Portland schools. He met Della at a friend’s house before joining the Marines. While Frank was overseas, he remembered waking up one night and remembering ‘the most beautiful woman he had ever seen’ and saying to himself that he was going to marry her when he came back.
Frank and Della married in February, 1957, settled in Portland and raised their five children. Frank worked most of his career in the vending machine industry. After retiring, he and Della moved to their vacation home full time in Beaver Cove, ME returning several years later to South Portland during the school year when Frank couldn’t sit still any longer and started driving a school bus for South Portland. He drove school buses for 30 years – just stopping in May of this year when he became ill. Younger students loved “Frank the Bus Driver”.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Della; their youngest grandson, John; his parents, Gustave and Helen Neuts; and a brother, Richard (Buddy) Neuts.
He is survived by their five children, Dana (Robyn) of Scarborough, Diana (Bob) Philbrick of Falmouth, Don (Joanie) of Falmouth, Frank (Stephanie) of Portland, and Julie (Matt) Welch of Greene, many special nieces and nephews (two of whom, Jeanne Reagan and Carl (Carol) Reagan, they helped raise). He is also survived by his sister, Marion Clark of Cumberland and Eddie Neuts of Chichester, UK. He will be missed by his nine grandchildren, Heather, Amanda, Cortney, Kayla, Ashley, Joseph, Erich, Rebecca and Seth. His beloved great grandchildren, Ella, Olivia, Easton and Jack will certainly benefit from the wonderful legacy and lessons he leaves behind. We find comfort in knowing that he is with Mom and John, together watching over all of us.
There will be no visiting hours, however friends and family are welcome to join at Celebration of Life service at AT Hutchins, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland on Saturday, June 10th at 10am followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.
