Dear family and God,

I miss my Dad everyday knowing that he is not here on Earth, but somehow I actually feel closer to him now. I see little signs, I feel his presence and know he hears me and he finds ways for me to hear him. I know he watches over me closely as if to make up for lost time when he couldn't when he was here on Earth. I love you Dad and you are MY sunshine too!!! Your dottah

I was so sorry to learn of your loss, Kay. I remember Gene as an active member of the Bates community. However, there are so many memories of you. You were my proctor at West Parker. You welcomed me, Carol (Soapy) Lux, Nancy ("George") Carey when we were nervous freshmen. You were our role model, for me particularly when I became a proctor. I am now living in So Portland. I will think of you and Gene when I pass Peaks.

I worked with Gene twelve out his thirteen years as Planned Giving Officer and found him to be one of my best friends at Bates. He introduced me to a number of people that I probably otherwise never would have had the pleasure to know because of his contacts in the Bates community.

The lunches at the Den with only the two of us at the table were mostly because all the other chairs were in use.

Kay, I was saddened to learn of Gene's passing. It was my honor to be his administrative assistant at Bates from September of 1993 until his retirement. I worked for many while I was employed in the Advancement office and I can honestly attest that Gene was my favorite. He was so kind and truly genuine. Always taking the ferry from Peaks regardless of the weather.

He truly loved Bates for many reasons, but I'm sure most of all because that's where he met you.

On the following day after Gene's passing, I lost my husband at the Androscoggin Hospice House so I can personally relate the sadness you are feeling. Keep all the memories of your life together as those will keep Gene close to you until you meet again.

God bless you and may Gene rest in peacr.

Dear Kay, I am so sorry that you have to go through loosing Gene. I remember seeing, the two of you rushing for the boat.
What few interactions I had with Gene, always left me thinking, "What a kind gentleman." Rough times ahead my dear. you will make it.
