Ella danced her way through heaven’s gates on December 12, 2021. She was born in Fort Fairfield, ME on February 8, 1920. The daughter of Dudley Frank Bean and Hattie Belle Acorn, she spent her childhood in Parkhurst Siding with her parents and nine siblings—Franklin, Willis, Lester, Ralph, Winston, Anna, Herbert, Glennis, and Avis. She recalled those years fondly, reminiscing about the time she spent visiting family every Sunday, canning with her mother, attending school; and she loved telling the story of the time that she proved she could stack wood just like the boys. The family moved to Corinth when Ella was 10. In Corinth, she discovered her favorite pastime, dancing. In later years, she reconnected with one of her classmates from Corinth, Arnold Duran. They married and eventually settled in Portland in 1966. She enjoyed cooking, completing crossword puzzles, and spending time at camp in Stetson. She was grateful to have spent the vast majority of her elder years healthy and living at home.
She is survived by her siblings Herbert and Glennis, her children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
