Cynthia “Cyndi” Anne Crockett, 54, of Buxton, passes away February 11, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after losing a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Portland on January 15, 1964, the daughter of Charles and Suzanne (Barstow) Crockett of Gorham.
Cyndi grew up in Gorham, enjoying riding and showing horses through her school years. Cyndi graduated from Gorham High School in 1982. She was self-employed, owning Shining Star Cleaning Service, a commercial cleaning company which she operated for many years.
Cyndi was an avid ten-pin bowler. She was a member of the Southern Maine USBC and was an inductee into the Southern Maine USBC Hall of Fame. She was the first woman in Greater Portland to bowl a perfect 300 game and to bowl two perfect games in the same week. She won the annual Women’s City Championship in Portland several times and was also Maine State Women’s Champion for several years. Cyndi was a board member of the American Bowling Congress and had been presented the Outstanding League Officer Award. She loved German Shepherd dogs and owned many during her life. She also loved the ocean and boating on Casco Bay in the summer.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the surgical and medical treatment facilities and their associates who treated Cyndi with loving care and compassion throughout her illness and final days.
Cyndi is survived by: her sister, Bethany of Webster, TX; father, Charles and mother, Suzanne Crockett of Gorham; and true love and fiancé, Michael Carter of Buxton; her pet German Shepherd, Vader and pet cat, Penny; aunts and uncles, David and Caroline Barstow of Houston, TX, Charles and Carol Barstow of Dover, NH, and Walter and Brenda Barstow of Rochester, NH; and several cousins.
A private family burial will take place in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Gorham.
