Charles Ladd Obituary

On Friday, February 21, 2020 Charles Ladd, loving Husband, Dad and Grampy passed away at age 62 in South Portland.

Chuck as he was known by most was born on January 17, 1958 in China, Maine.  He grew up in Palermo and Augusta graduating from Cony High School in 1977 and then moving to Portland. He was a hard worker from a young age and during his career worked for Portland Appliance, CP Technologies and retired from Idexx. 

He met his wife Joanne in 1979 while working at the Holiday Inn together and they married on February 20, 1981.  They were always together and enjoyed being on the go shopping, going to yard sales, going on adventures, visiting friends and family and taking family trips.  They had one daughter Angela that he was so proud of.  She was his world and he loved coming home with surprises for her and doing father daughter things. He was a provider and took good care of his family, he would do anything for them.

Chuck loved motorcycles and riding.  He owned so many over his lifetime always trading for a new one.  He spent his spare time outside tinkering with his bike.  He looked forward to bike rally’s, bike shows, swap meets and his annual Laconia trip with friends.  Another love of his was electronics.  He was always coming home with the latest toy.

Chuck will be remembered for always being willing to lend a helping hand and going out of his way for people.  He was easy going and loved joking with people.

He is predeceased by his grandparents that raised him Owen and Anna Ladd, mother Jane Small, mother-in-law Dolores Drinkwater that was Ma to him, Aunt and Uncle Virginia and Donald Cook and his beloved dog Daisy.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Joanne Ladd, his daughter and son-in-law Angela and Scott Lovejoy, two grandchildren Scott and Madelyn, sisters-in-law Debbie Crouse, Gail Augusto, Laurie Boissonneault and her husband Dennis, brothers-in-law Leslie Crouse and his wife Evelyn, Mark Augusto and his wife Carolyn, Ricky Augusto and his girlfriend Xiomara, cousins Bryant Cook and his wife Beth, Mike Cook and his wife Janice, Wanda Cook, his best friend since childhood Jim Giroux as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date burial will be at Brooklawn Memorial Park.
