William Daniel Feeney July 2, 1932 October 7 2016 William Daniel ""Bill"" Feeney, of Portland, Maine, passed away on Oct. 7, 2016.~ He was born on Munjoy Hill, the son of Edward J. and Barbara (McDonough) Feeney.~ Bill was a very proud brick layer, life member of the International Union of Bricklayers Allied Craftworkers. He received his fifty year life member card in 2002. He served as secretary of his local union and as trustee for the Health and Welfare Committee. He was proud of his role in developing the member's health insurance and retirement benefits, including covering maternity cost. Bill enjoyed driving through Portland to show people the many buildings he worked on, including the Portland Museum of Art and the Casco Bay Ferry Terminal. Bill grew up on Munjoy Hill, attending Cathedral Grammar and Cheverus~ High School.~ He first laid eyes on the love of his life, Antonetta DiBiase (Toni) in Mrs. DiBiase's store on Congress Street.~ Their first real date was voting in the 1956 election; they may have cancelled each other's vote. Nonetheless, they were married on Oct. 7, 1957. Bill and Toni raised four children, Laura, William Jr., Barbara, and Mary (Mimi).~ A fifth child, Michael Anthony, died suddenly at age 2 in 1963. Bill loved many things in his life, his family, siblings, children, nieces, nephews, cousins, all babies, the Red Sox, trips to Ireland and Italy, large parties at his home, and listening to Irish music.~ Above all else he loved his wife and friend, Toni.~ In his later years, if she was not by his side, he would typically ask ""have you seen your mother?"" or ""does your mother have something for supper?"". Bill was a resident of Seaside Nursing Home for the last two years. Bill as a resident and Toni as a daily visitor were treated like family by all the staff, especially Unit One.~ Bill is survived by his wife Toni; his sister Dorothy Feeney Moran McCarthy; his children Laura Feeney, William Feeney, Barbara Marshall, and Mary Jalbert;~ daughter-in-law Tracy Glidden Feeney; sons-in-law David Jalbert, and Tom Marshall; grandchildren Janessa Feeney, Mary Catherine Feeney Prentice, Andrea Feeney, Andrew Jalbert, Thomas Marshall, Joseph Jalbert, and Christopher Marshall; grandson-in-law Jeremiah; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.~ Friends and family are invited to visiting hours from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 13 at 11 am at St Pius X, 492 Ocean Ave, Portland.
