William Edward Farrell March 24, 1927 December 18, 2014 PORTLAND - William Edward Farrell Sr., 87, of Portland passed away at The Park Danforth on December 18, 2014. William was born in Portland on March 24, 1927 to the late John B. and Margaret (Malia) Farrell. In 1958, he married Patricia "Pat" (Gallant) Farrell, and the two raised five children together. William grew up in Gorham's Corner and attended Portland Schools. He later served in the Navy during WWII. William worked for the Portland Police Department for 23 years. After retiring from the Portland Police Department William worked as a Cumberland County Deputy Sherriff for 14 years. William then worked at the Riverside Golf Course until 2012. William is pre-deceased by his parents; his wife of 54 years Pat and his siblings, Mary Gomes, John Farrell, Raymond Farrell, and Barbara Piacentini. He is survived by his five children, Dawn Farrell and her partner Debbie Randall of Windaham, Maureen Libby and her husband Steven of Scarborough, J.B. Farrell of Portland, Paul Farrell and his wife Kathy of Standish and William Farrell, Jr. of Portland. William is also survived by his grandchildren, Rebecca and her partner Scott, Brian, Nicole, Matthew, Michael, Tyler, Serena and Jacob; his great-grandson, Colby; his sisters Dorothy Meehan and Joann Towle both of South Portland; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10am at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave, Portland.
