William M. Boyer June 30, 1932 January 2, 2016 William M Boyer 83 Deerfield Beach, Florida - William M. Boyer, 83, of Deerfield Beach, Florida & Scarborough, Maine passed away peacefully at his Deerfield Beach residence on January 2, 2016 with his wife, family and good friend, Pat Massey by his side. Bill was born on June 30, 1932 in St Albans, New York, the son of the late William E. & Helen Unger Boyer and grew up in Portland, Maine, graduating in the Deering High School class of 1950. Bill served in the Air Force during the Korean War and saw service in Tripoli. Bill was an avid handball and softball player and participated with many teams over the years but his number one passion was fishing and clamming the beaches of Pine Point where he could be seen on numerous occasions. As an outdoors man, Bill cherished the memories of his canoe trips and one in particular down the Allagash with his sons and grandsons. He will be sorely missed on these future excursions but the wonderful memories and lessons of the great outdoors that he has left them all with will continue in his beloved family forever. An avid sportsman a life time, Bill additionally was part owner of the former Portland Seahawks and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's games while in retirement. Bill spent a career in financial management starting with Commercial Investment Trust (CIT) and Canal Bank, Security Acceptance & Avco Delta, and then finally retiring with IDG Communications in Peterboro, New Hampshire. Bill is survived by his wife Kathryn to whom he was married for 61 wonderful years and their 6 children-Pamela Ranaghan of Cape Elizabeth, William Boyer of Standish, Michael Boyer of Howland, Kelly Boyer of Portland, Sherrie Clark of Scarborough and Keith Boyer of Ellsworth and 9 grandchildren. James Ranaghan, Matthew Ranaghan and his wife, Emily, Katelyn and Tannar Boyer, Erika an d Makala Boyer, Ryan Coyne, and Kelsie and Seth Boyer, and 1 greatgrandson, Ayden Boyer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress Street, Portland at 9:00 a.m. June 8, 2016. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland, Maine. Those who wish may make donations in Bills name to Children of St Jude and help kids fight cancer or simply of one's own choice.
