Wayne Lowell Thomas June 5, 1954 February 3, 2015 Searsmont and Portland - Born on Bainbridge Island, Washington, Wayne Lowell Thomas, 60, passed away peacefully with family and friends around him on Feb 3, at Maine Medical Center after a long illness. Wayne's early years were spent travelling the world with his father, an optical engineer working for the government, mother and three brothers. Ending up in Massachusetts during high school and college, Wayne, discovered the world of sky diving and general aviation becoming a Master Rigger and also working for the Army Research Center in Natick, MA, and also became a Private Pilot logging thousands of hours of flights. In 1985 Wayne and his wife married and moved to Searsmont where together they started Thomas Enterprises, Inc. which is still running today. Wayne built Ridgeview Airport, a private landing strip in his back yard where he enjoyed many flights in his Supercub, Aeronca Sedan, and his home built airplane, The Thomas Flier. Wayne established a float-plane base at his cabin on Hobbs Pond in Hope, ME. all of which remains today. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing snowmobiling all over the State of Maine enjoying his camp in the Allagash of Maine for many years, as well. Wayne lived life to it's fullest. Wayne also served his town of Searsmont for over 10 years as it's Chairman of the Planning Board. Wayne was predeceased by his father, Morgan, mother, Roberta, and brother, Morgan, and leaves behind his wife, Lynn Thomas of Searsmont, his daughter and grand-daughter, Kristen Kelley and Ari Proch, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL. He also leaves his two remaining brothers, Douglas Thomas. of Montville, and brother Dylan Thomas of Washington State. Wayne will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service is planned for March 28th, 2015 at the Searsmont Methodist Church beginning at Noon and continuing after at the Searsmont Town Hall Community Center.
