Thomas Joseph Concannon August 6, 1935 December 13, 2012 South Portland - Thomas Joseph Concannon, 77, of South Portland, died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, December 13, after a lengthy battle with lung disease. He was born August 6, 1935 in Portland, Maine, son of the late Thomas J. and Mary (Connolly) Concannon. He was a member of the Cheverus High School, Class of 1954 and graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia in 1958. Tom was known and loved by many for his kind heart and good nature, first as a teacher at Bonny Eagle High School and then for many years at Cape Elizabeth High School, and also as a Realtor®, most recently at Coldwell Banker in Cape Elizabeth. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Kathleen (McMahon) Concannon; children Meagan Concannon and partner Marianne Neal of Pittsburgh, PA; Meredith (Concannon) Lang and husband Peter of Austin,TX; and Matthew Concannon and wife Cullen of Cape Elizabeth; and grandchildren Jacob, Justin, Joseph, and Madeline Lang and Evan and Kathryn Concannon. Also surviving are his sister Peggy (Concannon) Cote and husband David, and nephews Christopher and Mark Cote. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Tom's life at a period of visitation on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 4 - 7pm, followed by a brief memorial service at 7:00 pm at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Tom's name to a charity of your choice.
