Sullivan Joseph Rizzo, Jr. January 8, 1928 November 9, 2014 Scarborough - Sullivan Joseph Rizzo, Jr. passed away on Sunday November 9, 2014 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough. He was born in Portland on January 8, 1928, son of Sullivan Sr. and Lorraine(King) Rizzo. He served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Mansfield in the Pacific Theater. After the war he married Jean A. Richio in July 1947. He worked as a brick mason for many years and moved to Florida when he and his brother worked as insurance investigators until he retired. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Jean (Richio) Rizzo; his parents, Sullivan Sr. and Lorraine Rizzo. He is survived by his brother, Richard and wife Offie of Old Orchard Beach, three daughters; Vicki (Rizzo) Leo of South Portland, Lorraine (Rizzo) Hirdler and husband Bruce of Pompano Beach, FL, De (Rizzo) Rosenberg and husband Jon from Natick MA, two sons; Richard and wife Cathy of Yarmouth, Sullivan, III and wife Sandi of Gorham. He is also survived by eight grandchildren Gina, Richard, Jessica, Kaycee, Chris, Sara, Melissa, Steven and 3 great grandchildren Andrew, Alexis, and Riley. His family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Maine Veterans Home for all the love, support, and care given to him and his family throughout his residency there. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours from 10am - 12pm with military honors to be presented at 12:00 on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at A.T.
