Shirley Jane Gavett Blais November 19, 1939 November 22, 2016 Shirley Jane Gavett Blais passed away November 22, 2016 at the Baron Center in Portland. She was born November 19, 1939 in Portland to Henry and Lillian (Barker) Gavett. Shirley grew up in Portland and attended local schools. She married Robert Blais in Portland on September 30, 1961. She raised her family in Japan, Germany, Kansas, Hawaii, and New Jersey as a military wife for 28 ½ years. She also did odd jobs at the various military installations. After Robert's retirement in 1981, they moved back to Maine. Shirley was very outgoing, friendly, and enjoyed being around other people. She loved knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; oldest son, Brian; and 14 brothers and sisters. She is survived by: her son, Michael and his fiancé Rebecca Allen of Portland; brothers, Warren of Zephyr Hills, FL and Bobby; grandchildren, Robert of Maine, Anna Marie of Portland, Brian Jr. and his wife Susan of Arizona, Michael Anthony and his fiancé Danielle of Portland; and two great-grandchildren. Shirley will be interred with her loving husband in Pensacola, Florida.
