Sheila Marie Heaslip October 14, 1949 October 6, 2012 YARMOUTH - Sheila Marie Heaslip passed peacefully from this world on October 6, 2012, with family by her side. She fought a very long and very courageous battle with Breast Cancer. Sheila was born in Woonsocket, RI to Clyde F. and Rita (O'Sullivan) Heaslip. She grew up in Milford, MA, the middle child of five daughters. Upon graduation from Bay View Academy Boarding School in Riverside, RI, she was accepted to the ""American Academy of Dramatic Art's"" in New York City, being a gifted actor and recipient of many awards. She wrote beautifully and was fledging Poet. After arriving in Maine, she also attended Casco Community College in Portland. Sheila, in her earlier years, was a world traveler, having lived in San Francisco, CA, New Orleans, LA, Boston, MA, and her favorite, Scotland with her sister Kathy. She spent a few years in various Maine areas, finally settling in Yarmouth where her heart stayed. She began working at the Muddy Rudder Restaurant where she remained for over 20 years. It was her second home, working for and with people she truly loved. It was a real family including many customers who came repeatedly over many years just to see her. She cared for them all. While at the Muddy Rudder, she received the ""Service Excellence"" Award in 1994, for her great devotion to her job. They recommended her to the chamber of commerce and she was one of the people given the ""Yarmouth Spirit of Excellence"" Award in 2004 for her job loyalty and wonderful service to many locals and tourists alike. A true animal lover who couldn't harm a living thing, a generous, funny, very gentle, helpful soul who will be missed always by her family and her second family of many friends, especially her dearest friend Jerry. Sheila is survived by her sisters, Maureen Foley of Mendon, MA, Barbara Moffi and her husband Michael of Holliston, MA and Kathleen Corey of Thetford, VT, nieces, Laury Haskell (John), of Hopedale, MA, Melissa Power (Brad) of Providence, RI, Sarah Corey, of San Francisco, CA, nephews, Sean Moffi of Swansea, MA, Jayme Moffi (Bethany) of Boston, MA, many grand nieces and nephews, and the love of her life, ""Carl"" her cat. She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia E. Heaslip. A special Thank You to the gentle, kind nurses who took tremendous care of her at Mercy Hospital and supported her family as well. ""Wish not so much to live long, as to live well"" A Private ceremony at sea, as she wished, will be held on her birthday, October 14, followed by a celebration of life at the Muddy Rudder on Rte. 1 in Yarmouth. The family invites her friends and all who cared for her to come and share stories with us from 1-3pm on that afternoon.
