Santina "Sunny" Olson July 17, 1922 February 23, 2014 Portland - Santina ""Sunny"" Olson, 91, of Portland passed away on February 23, 2014 at home surrounded by family. She was born on July 17, 1922 a daughter of Philip and Louise (Dognetta) Tirabassi. She grew up in Portland, graduating from Portland High School. Sunny worked in various capacities including on the Liberty Ships during WW II, at the Pentagon and in New York City. She had many interests and loves in her life. She was a tremendous seamstress and also enjoyed cooking, crafts and taking many day trips. She was a part of the mother's club at Sacred Heart and volunteered at the voting polls at the Portland Expo. She also spent time with the Beacon Club as part of the Iris Network. Most important to her, however was her love of her family and spending as much time with them as possible. Her family meant everything to her. Sunny was predeceased by her parents, her husband James A. Olson Jr. and siblings Samuel Tirabassi, Mary Sullivan, Susie Tirabassi, Ernestine Tirabassi, Rico Tirabassi, Frank Tirabassi and Amelia Heath. She is survived by her children, James L. Olson of Windham and Naples, FL, Madaline C. Jewell and her husband Tom of Portland and Robin Johnson and her husband Jerry of Portland. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Jewell and his wife Kelly Anne, Tyler Johnson and his wife Caroline, Theresa Jewell and her partner Sara, one great-granddaugher, Amelia Rose Jewell and a sister, Elizabeth Dupre. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, February 26 , 2014 from 4 - 7pm at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. Prayers will be held at the funeral home at 9am on Thursday, February 27, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 72 Federal St. Portland.
