Samuel A. Bailey June 13, 2013 November 1, 2013 Samuel A. Bailey, 69 Business Owner, Author and Aspired Politician Sam Bailey ""Samme"" of Gorham, ME and Boston, MA, passed away November 1, 2013 after a short illness. He was born in Charles Town, WV to Milton and Edith Bailey and attended schools in West Virginia. After serving in the U.S. Airforce he graduated from Ricker College. After college, he came to work for UNUM, then onto work for the State of Maine. In 1972 he started his employment agency in Portland which he had for 39 years. His love for playing basketball was a self measurement of his youth. He always challenged the younger players. He had a special place in his heart for the disadvantaged and homeless people. He volunteered countless hours at the Local Soup Kitchens. For the past few years he devoted his time and love into Politics which brought him to write a book, Samme Breaking The Cycle, My Life & Times in Maine. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Davis, Melton, Herbert, Bernard, and sister Muriel. He is survived by his wife Madone of 45 years, daughter Monique Salisbury and partner Ken Beaulieu, adopted sons, Jonathan Gomez and Daniel Bailey and four grandchildren Teejay, Larissa, Gage, and Brianna. Brothers, Robert (Rose), Bishop Scotland Bailey, and sister Irene Daniels. A memorial service to celebrate his life, will be held on Saturday November 23, at 1:00 p.m. at Willams Temple, Church of God in Christ, 274 Terrace Avenue (off Rowe Ave.) Portland, ME Dr. Herbert Bailey, Jr. of Columbia, SC will be officiating. Private burial will be at a later date.
