Obituary

Rudolph DiMillo September 8, 1930 June 8, 2016 Rudolph DiMillo passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving children. Rudy was born into a large Italian family in St. Albans, Vermont to Antonio and Ersilia (Liberi) DiMillo on September 30, 1930. His parents were immigrants from the small town of Roccamorice, Italy. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Everett Street in the Bayside neighborhood of Portland until they moved to the family home on Read Street in his junior year of high school. Rudy graduated from Cheverus High School in 1949 where he ran track. Upon his graduation he join the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After his discharge he returned home to work in the family business, DiMillo's Construction Company doing general contracting and masonry work. He eventually started his own Masonry business with his brother Joseph. He often brought his children with him to work on the weekends. Rudolph enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid supporter of his grandchildren's sporting events. Over the years he enjoyed many trips with his wife Marjorie to visit his family throughout the U.S. and Europe as well as his many trips to Foxwoods and Oxford Casino. Rudolph was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Marjorie, parents, Sisters Maria, Concetta, and brothers Nunzi, Edward, Ernest and Joseph. He is survived by his four children Anne Marie, Rudolph and wife Anne Marie, Janet and Jimmy. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren Erin, Meghan and Daniel Conroy, Maria and her husband Dave May. Rudolph N, Laura, Dominic, Isabelle and Sophia DiMillo; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, and His Brother Albert DiMillo, sister Elizabeth(Gus) Quinn and sister In-law Helen Parmenter. The family would like to thank his Niece Susan Gilbert for her care of him over the past year and also the Nursing staff at Southern Maine Dialysis during his illness. Visiting hours will be held Sunday June 12, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland, Maine. On Monday June 13, 2016, prayers will be recited at 9:00 a.m., followed a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peters Catholic Church, 72 Federal St., Portland at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
