Obituary

Roger V. Miles, Sr. November 22, 1927 October 6, 2012 Scarborough - Roger V. Miles, Sr., 84, of Scarborough and formerly of Old Town, went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2012 after residing at the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough. He was born on November 22, 1927 in Old Town, the son of Arthur Ivan and Freida (Gould) Miles. After high school, Roger served his country in the United States Army as part of the U.S. Constabulary force in Germany after World War II. Roger earned his bachelors' degree in education and was a longtime teacher and coach at Bangor High School and Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln. In addition to teaching and coaching, Roger's great passion was the game of golf. Roger was predeceased by his first wife, M. June Miles, and later by his second wife, Sally Miles. He was also predeceased by his brother, Robert Miles, a son, Roger V. Miles, Jr, and a great-granddaughter, Christina Mellen. He is survived by his daughter, Victoria Bradeen, son Michael Miles, his seven grandchildren; Jennifer, Stephanie, Aaron, Michael, Jesse, Rebecca and Sarah and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Arthur L. Miles and sister Marilyn Grindel as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a huge thank you to the staff at the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough for their excellent and compassionate care of Roger . A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, October 13 at the North Deering Alliance Church, 1301 Washington Avenue, Portland. A private interment will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset. Arrangements are under the care of A.T. Hutchins, LLC Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland.
