Rodney L. Wormell, Sr. May 4, 1944 April 19, 2012 Scarborough - Rodney L. Wormell, Sr., 67, of Westbrook, formerly of Portland, passed away on April 19, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. He was born in Portland, on May 9, 1944, the son of Leroy C. and Helen Marie (Egeland) Wormell . He attended Portland Schools, graduating from Deering High School in 1962. After graduation, Rodney enlisted in the Air Force, serving for four years, he then returned home to work on the family's dairy farm on Brook Road in Westbrook. Being a typical Mainer, he would work at times seven days a week to keep the business going. He retired from the farm in 1993. In 1967 Rodney married Beryl Drouin and raised their family in Portland. Every year Rodney and his family would take their vacation by traveling to Quebec to spend time with family. Rodney enjoyed life and his family, especially supporting Boston's sports teams, having played football and baseball for Deering. Rodney is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his children, Rodney L. Wormell, Jr. of Seattle, WA. and Tammy Wormell of New York City. He is also survived by a sister Sandra Sterling and her husband Peter of Westbrook; two brothers, Leroy C. Wormell, Jr. and his wife Carol of Westbrook, and Richard Wormell and his wife Mary of Maryland; and his former wife Beryl P. Redmond of Michigan; along with many nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to gather with his family during visiting hours, which will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 1:00PM at A.T. Hutchins, LLC Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Ave., Portland, immediately following his service.
