Roberta Beulah Broome July 22, 1935 January 13, 2013 Auburn - Roberta Beulah Broome, 77, died peacefully at Clover Health Care in Auburn, Maine on January 13, 2013. Her daughter, Denise (Gemme) Asselin of New Gloucester and son, Jean Gemme of Wales were at her side at the time of her death. She was born on July 22, 1935 to the late Raymond S. Roberts and Doris Hare Roberts. She is survived by a sister, Elaine Foss of St. Petersburg, Florida and two brothers, Willis Roberts of Auburn Maine and Larry Roberts of Litchield Maine. She is also survived by her granddaughters Cindy Asselin Grimmett of Waterboro, Shelley Asselin Grumann of Sanford, Andi Gemme Guimond of Monmouth and her precious little great-grandchildren Alysson Grimmett, Nathaniel Grimmett, Joseph Guimond, Evelyn Guimond and Sophia Grumann. Roberta is also survived by 8 nieces and one nephew, one niece was predeceased by her. She loved her ""little kids."" Roberta completed the sixth grade at Wales Elementary School. She didn't continue with her education because of illness as a child. She worked at The Albany Felt, Paragon Glass and Raytheon as a young woman and then went on to work as a cutter in several different shoe shops. Roberta married Jean Rene Gemme on February 16, 1952. They had two children together. They were divorced in 1973. While working at Mount Washington Inn as a hostess she met Roy F. Broome, the love of her life. They were married on January 9,1977 at South Lewiston Baptist Church. They moved to Florida where she worked as a care giver to the elderly. It was in this field she found her passion. She loved helping others. She cooked meals for her neighbors, visited the sick, and transported the elderly to where ever they needed to go. She also loved to crochet. Everyone she knew had an afghan that was made especially for them. She retired in 1996 to care for her ailing husband. She cared for him until his death in1998. Roberta lived in Florida until 2009 when she moved to Clover Health Care in Auburn, Maine to be closer to her children. Roberta will be interned with her husband at Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines Florida.
