Robert Thomas Bromee October 17, 1968 May 12, 2012 Rob Bromee of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, father, husband, Jedi, and totally righteous dude was born October 17, 1968 in Gardena, California to James and Barbara Bromee. Rob grew up in Elmer, New Jersey, but considered Maine his adopted home state. Rob was an inventor and an adventurer, but music was his true passion. Music was always playing when Rob was around; it was an essential part of his life. He was a huge Phish and Grateful Dead fan and in his early 20s he went on tour with the Grateful Dead and sold ice cold Molson's and grilled cheese sandwiches to fellow Dead Heads from his buddy Bob's motor home. Rob attended almost every Phish festival and all kinds of other music festivals, from Bonnaroo to Bluegrass. He never missed a chance to see live music. He was also a lover of the infinite cosmos and the stars, including Wars, Trek, and Gate. Robs festival campsites were legendary and were more like multimedia compounds than rustic campsites. There wasn't anything Rob couldn't fix or fashion, and he always came prepared. People considered themselves lucky to camp near Rob--his amazing arsenal of gadgets was only secondary to his generosity and kindness. Rob knew the importance of seizing opportunities and making things happen. Rob wasn't interested in long-range planning or dreaming of retirement to start having fun - Rob did life in reverse and made every moment count. Rob's life was spent planning his next adventure. Cross country road trips, vacations to London and Jamaica, moving to Maui on a whim, and living aboard a sailboat cruising the Bahamasa€""were just a few of his favorite adventures. Although Rob's life was short, it was never dull. Rob's profession was Information Technology in which he was naturally gifted and shared his talents with various companies throughout his career. From an early age technology feared him, and problems would dissolve when Rob got involved. Rob is survived by the loves of his life and his biggest fans, his wife of 14 years Kasey, two supremely awesome kiddos, Cooper (8) and Sadie (6), as well as his parents, Jim and Barbara. Rob was pre-deceased by his brother Jimmy. Rob was diagnosed with brain cancer in December 2010, and died May 12, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with The Grateful Dead playing--and his wife, kids, and loving family members by his side. In lieu of flowers, a trust has been established for his young Padawans. Donations can be made out to the Coop & Sadie Trust c/o Key Bank -- 9 Meadow Way, Cape Elizabeth, Maine 04107. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 9th at the summit of the Point Lookout Resort in Lincolnville, Maine.
