Portland - Robert "Baert" William Baert, 64, passed away on January 28, 2022 at Maine Medical Center. He was born on December 30, 1957 to the late John F. Baert and Helen M. (Taylor) Baert. Living in Portland most of his life, he came to know the city well. He spent many years working for ABC, 207 and ASAP Taxi companys, and was also involved in the fishing industry. Baert, a long-standing member of the American Legion Post 161, loved the ocean, boats, and fishing. He also loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hiking and camping. He especially enjoyed listening to songs from many genres of music. He is survived by his significant other of five years, Delinda Lemaster of Portland; his siblings, John Baert (Norma Conroy); Henrietta (Penny) Zywusko (James) of Punta Gorda, FL; Ronald Baert; Nancy Martin (David Martin) of Portland; and Thomas Baert (Deanna) of North Waterboro; along with eight nieces and nephews; and Tommy Maiorana, a dear friend, that Baert treated like a son for many years. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday February,12 at 1:00 PM at the Paul Mallia American Legion Post 161 (also known as "The Bunker") at 42 Atlantic St. Portland Maine.
