Rita Y Thivierge March 25, 1941 August 22, 2016 Van Buren - Rita Y. (Couturier) Thivierge, 75, died peacefully after a long illness on August 22, 2016 in a Scarborough hospice facility.~ She was born in Hamlin, Maine on March 25, 1941, the daughter of Joseph & Alphonsine (Levasseur) Couturier. Rita was raised in Van Buren, Maine and educated in Van Buren schools.~ She met and married her husband, Harold, in 1965 and followed him around the country until he retired from the Army in 1975.~ During that time, she became a licensed cosmotologist/hairdresser, a trade that she practiced until 1988. She is survived by her three sons, Jonathan, of Spartanburg, SC; Jayson, of Lyman, SC); and Jeffrey and his wife, Beth of Westbrook, ME; and one granddaughter, Makayla, of Westbrook. ~In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harold (Hal) Thivierge, and an infant sister, Joan. A~Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. ~Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning 9:00-9:45 at the church. ~Burial will follow in the parish cemetery..~ In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate in Rita's name to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House by visiting www.hospiceofsouthernmaine.org. ~
