Obituary for Ralph C. Bailey, Jr. Ralph C. Bailey, Jr., born on November 11, 1948, passed away peacefully at his home on January 8th, 2025. A lifelong resident of Portland, Ralph touched the lives of many with his unwavering dedication, work ethic, and kind spirit. Ralph was a proud graduate of Portland High School, Class of 1968. He took business classes at Westbrook College after graduation. Ralph carried the lessons he learned there into a successful career at Sappi Paper, where he worked diligently for 30+ years. His colleagues remember him as a dependable, hardworking, and friendly presence who took pride in his work. Beyond his professional life, Ralph was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed golf and was an avid swimmer. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved camping and fishing at Long Lake in the summer. Ralph is survived by his wife Kathy Bailey, daughters, Mindy Syphers (husband Eric) and Meghan Dudley, sons, Michael Bailey (wife Ellee) and Brandon Bailey (wife Michaela), granddaughters Lauren Sawyer (husband Morgan) and Madison Syphers, and grandson Grady Dudley. He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret Shea, his father Ralph C. Bailey, Sr., and his sister Lorita Hafley. Ralph's legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved him.
