Priscilla Ann (Tozier) Briggs April 6, 1920 April 12, 2012 Scarborough- Priscilla Ann (Tozier) Briggs, 92, of Sextant Lane, passed away on April 12, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Waterville, ME, a daughter of Donald W. and Helen G. (Kidder) Tozier. Priscilla attended Augusta schools and graduated from Cony High School in 1938. She attended Nasson College in Springvale, ME where graduated with a BS degree in 1943. From 1943 to 1946, she was a dietician at Bement School in Deerfield, MA. She married Wayne F. Briggs on June 6, 1946 and the soon moved to Boston. While in Boston, she worked at Miss Farmer's School of Cookery where she taught classes in foods and nutrition during which time, she also taught food classes for the Red Cross. In 1949, she and her husband moved to Providence, RI where she worked for Textron Inc. being in charge of employee stores. She began a career in elementary school teaching in a two room school in North Belgrade, ME where she taught for five years. She and her family moved to Gorham, ME where she taught first grade for 16 years, retiring in 1982. She was a former member of Beta Chapter of the Maine A.D.K. Sorority, Gorham Garden Club, Maine Teachers Association and First Congregational Church of Scarborough. She painted china and was a member of the Augusta Maine China Painters Club for many years. She is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Wayne F. Briggs of Scarborough; son, Gary D. Briggs of Falmouth, ME; daughter, Penelope Ann Rice of Scarborough; grandchildren, Nathan Briggs of Freeport, Tyler Briggs of Falmouth, Leah Rice of CA and Haley Rice of Scarborough. Services will be private. Arrangements are by A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave. Portland.
