Philip E. Noyes July 5, 1938 December 30, 2012 Scarborough- Philip E. Noyes, 74, died on December 30, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born in Portland on July 5, 1938, the third of four children of Everett Noyes and Louise Joyce Noyes. He was a member of Deering High School's Class of 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1957-1961, honorably discharged as Airman 2nd Class. He married Catherine Conwell in 1961 and they began raising a family. He worked for the Portland Press Herald for 38 years, where he retired in 1998 as the night foreman in the composing room. Prior to and during those years, he also worked for Western Union and Brink's. He enjoyed golfing, travel, snowmobiling, and was a lifelong member of the Portland Elks. He was pre-deceased by his wife in 1988. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Noyes Spear and her husband Charles Spear, Carolyn Noyes and her husband Graham Blyth; grandchildren, Ethan, Dillon and Emma Spear, and Catherine Blyth; brother, Charles Noyes and his wife Sharon Noyes. Visiting hours will be held from 4 - 7 pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave. Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at St. Joseph's Church, 673 Stevens Avenue, Portland. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Portland.
