Obituary

Philip John Madison passed away September 23, 2017 at his home in Portland.  He was born September 22, 1949 in Portland to Donald and Philomena (Nappi) Madison. Phil graduated from Portland High School in 1967 and then attended Northeast Business School for two years.  He worked at Douglas Brothers, Weber Oil, and Walmart. Phil was fun to be around always having a smile or an amusing story.   He was easy to talk to.  He was the strongest man you would ever know with the biggest heart.   He was very sensitive to people's needs.  He will be especially missed by all that had the priviledge of knowing him. Phil loved to play softball, go bowling, and had a love for white German Shepherds.  Most of all, he loved visiting his grandchildren in California.  He was a Little League Coach for 25 years and an umpire for 10 years.  He was the coach of the World Champion Big League Softball team from Maine for two years in a row. Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael Madison.  He is survived by:  his son James and his wife Miriam of Roseville, CA; three grandchildren, Mateo, Aiden, and Talon of Roseville, CA; brother, Mark and his wife Deborah of Portland; brother, Dana of Falmouth; sister, Donna Madison of Portland; brother, John of Portland; brother, David of Portland; sister, Francine Hicks and her husband Mike of Lisbon Falls; nieces and nephews, Angel, Michael, Jessica, Cassie, and Abigail; and great-nieces, Isabel, Scarlet, and Hazel. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland.  Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
