Pauline (Dunifer) Sylvester July 24, 1922 July 20, 2014 Scarborough - Just a few days prior to her 92nd birthday, Pauline Sylvester of Portland, passed away on July 20, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Bangor on July 24, 1922, a daughter of Walter and Flora (Tourtilotte) Dunifer, sr. She grew up in Bangor as was educated in Bangor Schools. Pauline met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Sylvester, Sr. in the early thirties. They were happily married for 66 years until his death in 2006. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed having family gatherings, especially at Christmas time and also her trips to Rangeley with her family. She was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Pauline was predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by her children; Kenneth Sylvester, Jr., Mrs. Charles (Theresa) Steeves, Paul Sylvester and his wife Margaret, and Mrs. William ""Russell"" (Carole) Millett, as well as her sister-in-law, Hazel Currier, sister Alice White and brother, Walter Dunifer, Jr.. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Ann-Marie Given and the wonderful staff at the Barron Center for the good and loving care of our mother for the last three and a half years: especially Toni, Carmela, Bernie and Leland. Thanks also to the staff at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for her care. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours from 4 - 6 pm on Friday, July 25, 2014 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 30, at 9:30 am, followed by interment at the Maine Veterans' Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Rd, Augusta.
