Patricia J. (Patti) DeLois, of Portland, died on June 14th at Maine Medical Center, Portland. She was born on January 31, 1958 in Augusta, the fourth child of Phyllis (Sears) and Jim DeLois.

Patti graduated from Cony High School, Class of 1976. She did her undergraduate studies at USM and UMaine Farmington and received her Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of South Carolina.

Her novel Bufflehead Sisters was published in 2007. She retired from Portland Public Library after 27 years. Previously she spent several years working in childcare and child services.

Patti’s pastimes were reading, cooking and entertaining her family and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her parents and survived by her four siblings: Mike (Mona) DeLois of Augusta, Kate DeLois of Portland, Jeff DeLois of Concord, NH and Sam (Trish) DeLois of Walpole, MA, as well as her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many cousins.

Private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on July 6th at the Italian Heritage Center, 40 Westland Avenue, Portland from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Patti’s name to the Portland Public Library.
