Obituary

Omega Mulonga Jones March 23, 1978 January 29, 2012 South Portland - Omega Mulonga Jones, a son given by the Lord to Esther Mwiza and Jeanfranco Mulonga was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and went home to the Lord on January 29, 2012. During his 33 years, Omega led countless others to everlasting life. While our hearts are broken by the loss of this amazing husband, father and friend we rejoice in the fact that he is bouncing on streets of gold in heaven with his bass in his hands and a glorious smile on his face. Heaven is his home and we know that for sure. With his mother as his constant prayer warrior, Omega moved to Maine and became involved in the International Christian Fellowship. After marrying Teresa (Morse) in 2007 and the birth of their son Micah Omega in 2008 the family joined The Rock Church of Great Portland in 2009. Omega shared his enthusiasm for Christ through worship music ministry, teaching and mentoring. He inspired hundreds of people every week. Micah will miss those great piggy-back rides and watching Tom & Jerry with his best friend. Taryn will miss his life lessons and advice that Omega was always willing to offer, and Tristan will miss the countless discussions of 3-pointers, NBA drafts and parallel parking lessons. Omega worked at RTS for 5 years and was recently promoted to production supervisor. He proudly took the oath of American citizenship on December 16 of last year. Omega was predeceased by his mother. He is survived by his devoted wife, Teresa Jones; children, Micah Omega, Taryn Richards and Tristan Richards and his fiancée Virginia Duby; granddaughter, Layla Willow; twin brother, Alpha and his wife Jesca; brothers, Immanuel and his wife Pamela and Innocent and his wife Rebecca; sister, Upendo; and three nephews and a niece in Tanzania. It was love that joined Teresa and Omega's families and he is also survived by those he affectionately referred to as his ""in loves"": parents-in-love, Nola and Tom St. Louis and sister-in-love, Tricia Elderkin her husband Seth and their three sons. He will be dearly missed by his pastor, mentor and close friend Eric Samuelson and his wife Kim as well as his dear friends David and Jules. A celebration of Omega's life will be held at 3pm on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at South Portland Church of the Nazarene, 525 Highland Avenue, South Portland . Family and friends may visit from 2pm until the time of the service. Interment will be private at a later date.
