Norma Marie (Pettis) Gribbin 1929 - 2015 Portland Norma Marie (Pettis) Gribbin, 86, of Portland passed away peacefully on September 24, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Portland on the 4th of July, 1929 the eldest child of Francis "Happy" and Magda Petra Skjodt ""Mida"" (Pedersen) Pettis. Norma attended Portland High School and graduated in 1947. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, John ""Jack"" Gribbin and raised 6 children with unconditional love and support. Her children and grandchildren gave her joy beyond words. She loved reading and music - Stephen King and Frank Sinatra were among her favorites. She was proud of her Danish and Irish heritage. Norma was beloved by all who knew her and they gathered annually to celebrate her birthday with fireworks and stories. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack of 41 years, her brothers, Francis Jr. and Robert Pettis and her son, Martin Gribbin. She is survived by her sons, Thomas Gribbin, Steven Gribbin, Christopher Gribbin and longtime girlfriend Lisa Fogg, and John Gribbin and his longtime girlfriend Vanessa Sylvester, a daughter, Kathleen Neidig and her husband Brett, and her grandchildren, John and Marie Neidig, Daniel, Allison and Chelsea Gribbin, and by her brothers, Timothy and his wife Patricia Pettis, David and his wife Linda Pettis, her sister Elinor and her husband Raymond Fogg and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A heartfelt thank you to Jessi and Sam, her wonderful RN's at MMC P3CD. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the family at the A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland on Monday September 28, 2015 from 5-7P.M. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 11A.M. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
