1924 ~ 2015 Portland Nellie Ruth McPhail, 86 passed away after a lengthy struggle with cancer and Alzheimer's. She was born in Portland on June 24, 1929 the eldest daughter of Joel and Mary Etta (Meserve) Guptill. Nellie loved her gardening, she assembled quilts for her family and lovingly shared her almost famous zucchini relish with her family. Nellie is predeceased by her husband, Wallace McPhail and her son, Edward R. McPhail. Surviving are her children, William McPhail, Carol Jordan, Elaine VanScyoc, Deborah Kilton and Patricia Gowell and two son-in-laws, Mario Gowell and David Kilton as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family wished to thank the staff of the Barron Center as well as Hospice for the care she received. Graveside services will be held at the Brooklawn Memorial Park, Congress Street, Portland on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 1P.M. Arrangements by the A.T.
