Nancy Joann Rayner, 85 of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on June 3, 2026.
Nancy was born on June 22nd, 1940, in Portland, Maine, to William Noah Clark and Irene May (Dewitt) Clark. She was the youngest of 9 siblings.
Nancy attended schools in Portland, Maine, graduating from Deering High School in 1959. She continued her education at Westbrook College pursuing a career in healthcare. Dedicated to serving others she earned her Home Health Aide, CNA, RN, and EMT certifications. She retired from Hospice of Southern Maine, where her compassion and commitment made a lasting difference in the lives of many families.
Nancy was a woman of deep and abiding faith who loved the Lord and dedicated much of her life to serving Him. She attended several churches throughout her life and was a faithful member of Promise Land Outreach Center. Nancy shared God’s love through her words, actions and servant heart. She touched countless lives. Her unwavering faith and devotion to Christ left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Nancy enjoyed many hobbies and was blessed with a creative spirit. In her younger years, she delighted families and friends by creating beautiful cakes for weddings, baby showers and special occasions. Later in life, she spent countless hours in her art room her son Paul created for her. There, she enjoyed painting, drawing and exploring a variety of artistic mediums. Nancy took pride in her artwork and loved sharing her creations with all who visited her.
Nancy is survived by her son Paul E Kennedy and wife Michelle of Hiram, Maine; daughter Pamela E Kennedy of Apex, North Carolina; Stepson David Rayner Jr. and wife Tracy of Scarborough, Maine. Grandchildren Ryan, Patrick, Matthew and wife Kaitlyn, Nathan, Christopher, Kaitlyn and, fiancé Erasmo and Nicholas. Great grandchildren; Ethan, Olivia, Arianna, Amelia, Brighton and Eveleigh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a beloved husband of 21 yrs., David Rayner Sr, brothers, sisters and many extended family members.
A graveside service will be held at Riverside Memorial Cemetery, Cape Elizabeth, Maine Friday August 14th, 2026, at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Southern Maine, 390 US-1 Scarborough, Maine.
