Obituary

Portland - Nancy M. Kimball, 81, of Portland ME passed away on June 10, 2023 at Seaside Nursing Home. Nancy was born in Bangor, ME the daughter of Leon and Clara (Bailey) Blackmore. She graduated from Orono High School and obtained her degree from Plus-Gray School of Business.  Nancy worked for several local companies as a key punch operator, before retiring from McKesson Group. Although Nancy loved her job, it was something that she had to do and would have preferred doing many other things. Nancy had 4 children whom she raised and cared for. She loved to work with the needle and yarn crocheting many things throughout her life. She also enjoyed making different decorations with plastic canvas, some of which still might be found around the homes of friends and family. Nancy was a dedicated and involved member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Club for 40 years. She served in many positions and did this with dedication and love for the Eagles. Outside the club she loved attending family functions and in her younger days loved square dancing. Anyone you spoke to would tell you in one way or another she was the life of the party. Nancy was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching all types of sports. However, hockey brought her true passion out and she was a season ticket holder for the Portland Pirates never missing a game. Every night 7pm Nancy could be found watching her two favorite game shows Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She is survived by her children Jo-Ann (Carl) Tupper of Standish, Ellery and (Karmen) Maynard of Buxton, Patty and (David) Leighton of Ellsworth, and Robert and (Katelynn Howard) Maynard of Westbrook; her grandchildren Karen, Darcie, Savannah, Stacey, Nasha, Dane and Mikel, Kelsey, Travis, Little Rob and Riley, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter; a sister Pat and (Gordon) Hill of CT, and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Kenneth & wife Marie Blackmore.  We want to thank the teams at MMC P2C and Seaside for the excellent care given to our mother over the past few weeks. The family invites you to a time of visitation on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 11:00am to 1:00pm and immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00pm at A.T.
