Nancy Ann (Hagan) Brien October 19, 1929 September 17, 2014 Portland - Nancy Ann (Hagan) Brien, 84, of Portland, passed away on September 17, 2014 at the Barron Center with family by her side. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on October 19, 1929, a daughter of Dewey and Margaret (Warner) Hagan. She grew up initially in Michigan and later Kansas before moving to Maine in 1968 where she and her husband, Henry, raised their six children. She worked at home raising her family until her husband retired. She then went on to work as a CNA at Bennett Retirement Home and later, Casco Village Assisted Living. Nancy loved helping other s and donated to several churches and especially St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital. She also enjoyed writing poetry and was always entering ""The Publishers' Clearing House"" in hopes of being able to give even more money away to others. Nancy especially loved family, including spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also so proud of her brother David who served as a federal judge. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Helen and John, her husband Henry and their daughter Bridget. She is survived by her children; Mary Anzmann and her husband Larry, Henry ""Hank"" Brien and his wife Vickie, Nancy Jeppson, John Brien, and Andrew Brien and his fiancée Corinne as well as her grandchildren; Monica Sprinkle, Christopher Brien, Adam Anzmann, Jessica Lactara, Kavan Jeppson, Kaitlyn Brien and Kyle Brien, and her great-grandchildren; Hailey Penney, Kole Lactara and Dustin Lactara. She is also survived by her brother David Hagan. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at a later date. Please contact her children for time and location.
